Wazzat?

At the blogger meeting,I learned how to use the macro setting on my camera! Here is something new that I bought today, I took the photo using the macro setting.
Do you know what it is?

Isn't it used to focus in better? The macro setting that is. What is that on the plate? I'm not sure what it is. It isn't a worm right? lol.

It's a cashew!

Is it a slug from your garden?

It is a caju (cashew) :). We used to pick them and burn the nuts in a fire in the backyard in Recife when I was a young teen. You can make a wonderful fruit drink with the red part, called cajuada in Brasil - i guess it would be a cashew licuado in Mexico.

The fire for the nuts is supposed to burn off poisonous oils, as I recall

Yes, a cashew. The fruit is called a Maroon I think.

The fruit though is good. Are they in season now? I should look for them.

Whatever it is, it has a tumor and should seek medical assistance immediately.

Chrissy & Keith,Ron,Jonna and Anonymous from Acapulco are correct! I wrote about it on my cooking blog jocote de marañónGlorv1, you are right the macro setting is so you can focus better when you do extreme closeups.

Daniel and Sue, thanks for playing! I think it looks even weirder in reality!

regards,
Theresa

ps, Jonna, they must just be getting into season because the ones we bought were too astringent to use. I still haven't gotten the nerve up to try roasting the nuts.
