Husband's birthday is in May. I have been racking my brain for gift ideas. Today, I hit on one. I am cooking Thai food every day for him this month. It's his favorite cuisine. Starting today, I am making at least one Thai dish every day this month. I did warn Husband that I wasn't promising a full Thai meal every day but I would do my best. Which is why I made Panaeng Neua for lunch today. The recipe name translates into beef balls but it's really meatballs in a peanut sauce not anything really exotic.I am calling them Albóndigas estilo Tailandia because it still sounds exotic but I know how to pronounce it.
It was really tasty, easy to make (I already had coconut milk in the refrigerator) and quick to cook, what more can you ask for. Husband felt that they would be great appetizers if made a bit smaller, I agree.
Lunch today was quinoa pilaf, steamed oriental vegetables and the Panaeng Neua.
I'll worry about tomorrow's lunch mañana.

Need any suggestions? My husband is Thai!
Sticky Rice, yes please, I would love suggestions!

My fav is green papaya salad.... it would be great in the heat of Merida!
Carlos, that is sooo good! They serve it at the Thai restaurant in Baca. Husband and I were talking about wanting to make some "som tam" (I think that is the name) today. While green mangoes are common I have never seen green papayas for sale. I think I have to make friends with one of the vendors in the mercado that sells fruit and place a special order.

Theresa
You must truly love your man!
Contessa, I do love him.

Okay dokay..I recommend:
-Yum Woon Sen, a noodle, meat & vegetable salad (hubby & I like it best with prawns). Super easy to make, has a chili & lime dressing & is refreshing in the heat. Eat a bowl on it's own as a main, or serve on side of a grilled meat dish.
- Kana Moo Grob (has no fish sauce!) Kale (or broccoli stalks) stirfried with crispy pork pork belly. Serve over rice.
- Tom Yum. Lemongrass & lime soup to which you can add any meat. Serve with rice as a main course, or in a small bowl as a starter.
Sticky Rice, thanks for the ideas. I am not sure what pork belly is in Spanish but I am off to look it up. Yum Woon Sen sounds like our kind of meal, I love one main dish salads!
regards,
Theresa
