Cracking up

The lightening flashes and splits the world in pieces. Light hurts my eyes making it difficult to see. The zigzags are disconcerting, reading is impossible. The first time I was really concerned, I even consulted a doctor. Am I hallucinating? Going blind? It's none of those things, I am having what is called a silent migraine or migraine with aura. Normally, it just last a short time and I go on with my life, no one wiser.  However, yesterday, I had one followed by a regular migraine. Yuck.

I searched the web and found some images that portray more or less what I see when I have these

flashes.
The flashing one really depicts it well almost enough to enduce a headache by looking at it. Just thinking about it is enough to make me want to find a cool wet cloth and a dark room.

It's like a flashing neon kaleidoscope. Mine are normally not painful either, but like you they occassionaly are followed by the migrane.

Cool compress, and a nap! It's about all you can do, oh and lavendar oil!

Debi in Merida,So sorry to hear that you are a fellow sufferer. I started getting migraines about ten years ago the silent ones around three. Neither one is fun. The cracks in my vision are what I usually see but the flashing happens sometimes.Pascadeli was selling organic lavender flowers, maybe I should make myself some lavender sachets? Or should I just get someone to bring me lavender oil?

Theresa

I am always in favor of a nap. It cures everything.

Theresa,
Sorry to here you are a fellow suffer of migraines. I don't get aura's or such but I have debilitating headaches that are not treatable with over the counter meds or prescription pain meds for that matter. The medication that has been a life saver for me is called Sumatritan. I would encourage you to speak to your doctor about it and see it he thinks it might aid you. Thank you for your posts, I enjoy your insights about your life in Merida.

Oh, Theresa. How awful. I've never heard of these. They must be dreadful to deal with.

Steve, I know, you never met a nap you didn't like.

bubba1217, thanks for the info I will look into it.

Barb, it doesn't happen that often, but I think I am going to start keeping track. I've known people with frequent debilitating headaches. That fortunately is NOT me.

Theresa

Your electromagnetic field of energy must be real strong.

I have a friend into aromatherapy who is sending me a care package in a couple weeks. she makes oils, i can ask her for some lavender oil.

My migraines are not always super painful. Sometimes they are. The auras can be weird though. I feel like I'm in the bottom of a pit or I have lost my depth perception. I used to take Maxalt in Canada. Here I take Sydolil. It works well.

Lin, Thanks for the offer. I will call you.

Contessa, thank you

Joanne, I thought I was over migraines then these started. I have to track when they happen and see if they are related to anything like food or stress. Thanks for the information.

regards,
Theresa
