looking forward to 2012

Making New Year’s resolutions is not my thing. I’m more of a five year plan kind of girl. When things are bad, I tell myself, I’ll just do this for five years, then I’ll reevaluate. Five years just seems like the largest chunk of time that I can imagine staying the same. Admittedly one day at a time has been my byword many times in my life too. Anyway, back to the point, I have goals for this year.

Number one on my list is to continue getting rid of stuff. I’m mulling over the feasibility of a yard sale. Maybe I can get together with a couple of friends? Paring down my possessions is a  goal, but I haven’t really formulated by how much. I have some kitchen stuff, including a kitchen aid mixer that I hardly ever use. I also have a set of dishes just taking up space.

Hand in hand with getting rid of stuff is using up my fabric stash. I did really well for awhile but some new fabric seems to have found it’s way into my hoard. So I am going to have a sewing day once a week. I just have to figure out which day and stick to it!

I found a website that that has a free painting course online. I have started doing the work. One of the requirements is setting up a blog and uploading your work. I’m thinking more on the lines of auditing the class, so I’m not sure I am going to go the whole route. I am going to continue with my painting classes with Greenwood of course. I’d also like to sell some of my paintings, mostly to pay for my classes and to make room in the studio. If anyone is interested, send me an email, my contact information is on my profile. I get enough spam without posting it.

Another big goal is to finish landscaping the yard. The gardener showed up the day after Christmas and got a good start on it. He laid the left over bricks for me and promised to come back last Friday to do some more work. Eventually,  he will show up again, but until then I have been doing stuff on my own. It’s good exercise.

Speaking of exercise, I’m not motivated enough to commit to a real plan. However, I am looking forward to it getting warm enough to swim again. The primal/paleo diet is going great. I love eating like this. I didn’t put on any extra weight over the holidays and as of today I am back to 137. According to my diet plan I can expect to be down to my goal weight by May or maybe August. I’d really like to be a size 6 again before I visit my family, but a size 8 would acceptable.

Oh, yeah, and I am getting a hair cut. I haven’t decided on a style.

My long-range planning consists of deciding whether to take a nap each day. I usually give in to sloth.

you hope to be at your goal between may or august, gosh, that's a 3 month span! well, better late than never. congrats on your weight loss. i managed to get down to 136 but put on 4 lbs. between thanksgiving and christmas. amazingly i only put on 1 lb. during our 12 day vacation in vietnam, laos and cambodia. i think we'd both be good at a size 8i think at our age if we get too skinny our skin will sag. i do enjoy exercising but the gyms here are outrageously expensive. i will continue my daily morning walks when i get over my cold. i may even add an evening walk or bike ride.

take care and feliz ano nuevo y dia de los reyes magos.

Teresa, I think that eating southeast Asian foods would be the best diet ever. We lost weight when I did the month of Thai foods. I think 3 months is reasonable, maybe ambitious. One of the reasons that I don't want to lose weight too quick is the saggy skin problem, at our age, our skin isn't as elastic as it used to be.
Wow, sounds like you are getting a lot out of your adventure. Enjoy!

Theresa

Steve, LOL, yeah between trips NOB,trips to China, trips around Mexico. Of course, you need to conserve your strength for your next adventure. I'd nap too if I had your life!

I admire your consistancy and success! To me consistant means that I got thru breakfast without a major slip in my nutrition. After reading your post on online food monitoring I returned to my own abandoned program(myfitnesspal.com) so maybe that will give me some structure.

Rainie, I have some information on the diet that I can email you if you are interested. I'm thinking of doing a 30 day paleo challenge maybe we can do it together?

Theresa
