Phone laundering service

I washed another cell phone today. Though it may already have been toast before I did it. I blame last night’s deluge. I got soaked to the skin while running around on the roof making sure drains weren’t clogged.

Entering the house, I stripped off my clothes and left them in a pile on the tile. This morning I threw the still soaking wet clothes in the washer. After the machine ran for a few minutes, it occurred to me that I hadn’t seen my cell phone today.

Now the cell is sitting in a bowl of rice hopefully recuperating. I just put two hundred pesos of credit on my phone yesterday.

Maybe you should consider putting your cell on a laynard.... I did this for awhile until I got used to having a cell....

Linda washed one before Christmas, she has been keeping the new one on a hook in the entry hall out of fear of forgetfulness. Now it's a full time job catching up on all the missed calls. Do they make phones that can go through a wash cycle? There has to be a market for a product that acts like a Timex...

....or maybe a waterproof case? Nice to know I'm not the only one who does things that make my husband ask, "How in the world...?"

To everyone, yeah I sound like a flake, but I've had cell phones for 10 years and never forgot until last November.

My first Mexican cell phone lasted almost 7 years! I had to replace it because the keys wore out.

I was in a panic due to the unseasonable 30mm of rain that seemed to all be falling at once last night. Who empties their pockets before going outside? When I entered the house soaking wet, husband wrapped me in a towel and I left the clothes on the floor. I changed into dry clothes and went around and mopped up water.

I appreciate the concern, but I really am not getting senile.

regards,
Theresa

You took the battery and SIM card out of the phone right? If you manage to salvage the SIM card (but not the phone itself) you can put it in a new phone, retain your number, your contacts and your $200.

Good luck!

Ron & Kathy, he is a keeper.

Joanne, I bought a cheap phone for two hundred pesos (how much is that $16 usd?)yesterday. I put my sim card in it. The guy told me that I can sell the sim card that came with the phone and my broken phone to a place that buys used cells.
I will probably break even in the transaction.

Theresa

I've never laundered a cell phone but my old one went for a swim in the pool! The bowl of rice didn't help...

Joanna, I think cell phones with cameras are more fragile than the old ones. I'm happy with my new cheap phone.
